Dreams

Life is full of ironies

Over time
One realises that nothing in life is black and white
There is no clear line between what's right and what's wrong
It's all about perspectives

Over time
One realises that nothing is as simple as it seems anymore
There are various things in life that complicates everything
It's all about perception

I once thought that it is the most natural thing for two people who like each other to get into a relationship, because isn't that what people would usually want? To be with the one they hold close to their hearts, to be there for them and to embark on a new journey with them?

Apparently not.

With how mobile our generation is becoming, there are more obstacles that stands in the way of a relationship than ever. When we don't even know where we will set foot next, how can two people commit to each other and work towards a common goal?  Is it worth it giving up our chance of developing our career elsewhere for the person we believe to be the one? How sure can we be that this particular person is the one?

On top of that, the naive us during our younger days got into relationships with the optimism that they are the one and that we can make this work somehow. They say if two people really work at it, they can overcome any obstacles. However we learned the hard way through multiple failed relationships that some relationships are just not meant to be. After getting our hearts broken so many times, some of us will get tired and be afraid of putting our hearts in the hands of others, right? There is only so much heartbreak one can take.

With that, I have concluded that early 20's is the worst time to get into a committed relationship.

Thank you for helping me realise that.

In the short time we have spent together, I was really happy. Nobody has made me so happy in such a long time. Thank you for the memories and valuable lessons. Thank you for being there for me when I needed you the most. Thank you for turning my frown upside down, for encouraging me, and for being so sweet and caring. Thank you for your thoughtful little gestures, your kind words and your company. Thank you for trusting me, for sharing something so close to your heart with me, for our conversations of random nothings.

Thank you for giving me your side of the story and the closure I needed to close this chapter for good.

I've already accepted that things were not meant to be a while back. I respect your decision and can understand why you've decided this is for the best.

Goodbye
